Remember last month’s Dispatch from Newport? Well, we’re going back there for the Fourth of July, and here’s why: Forty 1° North, the new boutique hotel and marina on Thames Street, is throwing a grand opening party, and everyone’s invited.
We love Newport for its low key, salty vibe. It’s the anti-Hamptons. But sometimes we need a little glam, a little style and modernity. Dare I say it? We need a little city. We go to the beach, we visit the historic mansions and eat quahogs on rickety old docks, and then we want to dress up and drink cocktails. After all, we are on vacation. That’s what makes this place so ideal.
Back to the party: on Saturday, July 3, Forty 1° North will open its doors to five hundred guests for three hours of drinks, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and dancing to the tunes of Brendan O’Hara and the Big Bounce Collective, a fantastic South Beach-based band (that you may have seen before – they frequently play at Ella and at the Delano’s Florida Room). DJ Neil Nice is coming up from Brooklyn to spin between the band’s sets.
There are only two weeks left till the Fourth weekend, and we know that plenty of you are Newport-bound, so be sure to sign up for this awesome event. Ticket sales open today and are $100 a head for three hours of open bar and hors d’oeuvres.
Call 401-846-8018 to get your name on the list, and be sure to visit Forty 1° North's blog for more news and event details!
