Confession: until the invite for Martin+Osa Celebrating Creative Time popped into our inbox, I'd never heard of Martin+Osa. Curious, I poked around the website, and was really impressed. The look is J.Crew meets Ralph Lauren Collection, (think streamlined leather motorcycle jackets and bombers, a perfect button-up pencil skirt, battered fold over clutches, crisply tailored shirtdresses) and was inspired by the globetrotting adventures and photographs of Martin and Osa Johnson.
True, the line is owned by American Eagle, but, as with A&F's Ruehl, it has a different design team and is aimed at an older, more discerning audience.
Apparently, the team has great aim; the hosting committee is a pretty comprehensive list of New York's most in-demand hustlers and bustlers, among them our own Eric Spear, Jonathan Adler, Lisa Anastos, Ariane de Bonvoisin, Lorenzo Borghese, Simon Doonan, Adelina Wong Ettelson, Alex Hitz, Carolina von Humboldt, Liz Lange, Christian Leone, Candy Pratts Price, Chuck Price, Dan Ragone, Lucy Sykes Rellie, Euan Rellie, Annabel Vartanian and Kimberly Guilfoyle Villency, Eric Villency, and Arden Wohl.
And what's, aside from clothes and sheer fabulousness, is being feted? Creative Time is a New York-based nonprofit organization which "commissions and presents adventurous public arts projects." Sounds like a worthy cause. See you and your dressed-to-the-tens-selves at the Bettina Prentice Estate Saturday at 6!
