Gin & Tonic, The Silent Killer
Gin & Tonics
seem innocuous enough. Clean, clear, and crisp with a bright dash of lime , this country club staple looks as refreshing as seltzer on a summer's day. But in reality it's a "silent killer," as the average glass can go upwards of 200 calories. Comparatively, you'd be better off downing a mojito.
The problem, surprisingly, is the tonic, which is absolutely packed with sugar. Avoid this by ordering diet tonic or water as a mixer, or just go straight to a gin martini if you can sip it slowly enough.
Same rule applies to vodka drinks, natch. Avoid tonic!
