Sounds Like The "Downton Abbey" Movie Is Getting A Sequel!

Call the maids, shine the silver, and dust off your best pearls - The Crawleys are (very probably) making a comeback!

The posh family saga made the leap off the small screen with the Downton Abbey movie last year, which seemed to wrap up the story of everyone from Lady Mary to Mr. Carson in a way fans found most satisfactory.

But the film's stars, producer, and even creator Julian Fellowes have all suggested that a sequel is in the works. Back in November, producer Gareth Neame told The Hollywood Reporter, "We're having those conversations. We're working on what the story is, and when we might be able to make it. But it's the same as the first time around: We have to try to get everyone back together again."

And that may just include Dame Maggie Smith, despite what we learned at the end of the first Downton movie. Neame reminded fans that "[Downton has] had plenty of medical misdiagnoses" throughout the years, while Fellowes recently said, "We should remember that at the end of the film, Maggie was by no means dead." (Thank god, because what would we do without the Dowager Countess's endlessly quotable shade?)

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there's a solid release, or even filming, date on the horizon just yet. So as Joanne Froggatt, who plays Anna Bates, said just days ago, "fingers crossed!"
