First Times and Final Bows
Now that you're up-to-date on the show's history, perhaps you'd like a crash course in the television shows that the awards are celebrating (aka a crash course in our preferred category of Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Series, with a compulsory shout-out to Alec Baldwin).
There's nothing like being nominated for - and winning - an award for the first time. (We should know: in eighth grade, we won the oh-so-prestigious physical fitness award, granted only to middle schoolers who can do, like, 15 sit-ups in a minute.) That's why we're saluting one of our fave freshmen nominees:
Girls' Lena Dunham. She's redefining sex and the city as the voice of today's twenty-something generation - even if her character Hannah Horvath and her friends have to make some mistakes along the way.
But then again, we're also faithful to Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, who are rocking it on
30 Rock's farewell season and totally deserve some farewell recognition. So you won't get any predictions from us, just a major sitcom lovefest shout-out. In any case, we're hoping that Amy, Tina, and co. will rush the stage a la the
2011 Emmy's (or that Julia Louis-Dreyfus will just read Poehler's
prepared speech).
And for some nominees who have already been anointed Golden Globe winners, go
