Slide #3

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest
Where/When Is It?: New Orleans (April 27-May 6). What's It Like?: Jazz Fest has an unparalleled showcase of Louisiana’s unique culture. The show has an enormous lineup that is also one of the entertainment world's most diverse, with musical acts like Nathan & the Zydeco Cha-Chas, Kipori “Baby Wolf” Woods, Iron and Wine, Ne-Yo, and Paulina Rubio all performing this year. (Other) Notable Acts: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Trombone Shorty, Cee-Lo. Types of People: I've been told that the Jazz Fest is what you should go to instead of Mardi Gras to actually experience New Orleans, so I'd expect a crowd that is slightly less wasted and topless with not as many Party City beads. But only slightly. Pros: New Orleans is both an insane and amazing city with filled with very nice warm and welcoming people (big ups, southern hospitality), plus you can drink everywhere and it is heartily encouraged. Double plus: beignets. If all else goes wrong and you wind up alone at Café du Monde with an empty hurricane container and no recollection of where your pants went, know that you can shove your face in some fried dough covered with powdered sugar. Cons: Sweating, basically. You've gotta be OK with profuse sweating. If you don't like oppressive humidity and spicy food, then this is very much not your cup of tea. [Via]
