While it's hard to say that Lachlan Murdoch got this Château-style Californian mansion for a steal, he kind of did. Originally listed back in 2017 for over $350 million, this Bel Air estate has seen slash after slash to its price ever since. Now, over two years later, the son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch has scooped the property up for $150 million.
The second most expensive residential sale in the US, the home, poshly named Chartwell, comes with more than just a 75 foot swimming pool, sprawling gardens, tennis courts and a 12,000 bottle wine cellar - it comes with a bit of a nouveau riche patina. Perhaps the facade looks familiar? After all it was the home of the Clampett family in the sitcom 'The Beverly Hillbillies.'
Exactly the kind of mega mansion a new-to-money, flashy, spent-it-while-you've-got-it person would buy. Which, while super luxurious, isn't exactly the cutest look.
