Cafe Angelino
Located just steps from the GofG L.A. office is a neighborhood Italian restaurant near and dear to our hearts for many reasons, including its outstanding pizza. You probably won't find Cafe Angelino on any top pizza lists out there, but just trust us when we tell you it's truly among the best in Los Angeles. The quaint, cozy, family-owned spot on West 3rd Street beloved by locals and those in-the-know is a super casual, unassuming eatery that will probably surprise new diners with its top quality food.
But back to the pizza and why it's our favorite, let's start with the cheese. We love cheese and therefore like our pizza covered in it, just how Angelino does it. Unlike many places these days where puffed up crust makes of 40%-50% of the pie, Angelino's super-thin pizzas have only about an inch of uncovered crust along the edge, just enough to hold a slice, with an even layer of sweet, tangy tomato sauce covered by sinfully delicious mozzarella over the very large middle. Pizzas are about 12-inches across -- plenty for a main course for one shared item with two or more. For first timers, we recommend starting out with the Margherita which happens to be our personal favorite before venturing into toppings.
