The Jesus and Mary Chain at Hollywood Park
Man, you would never think a horse racetrack in Inglewood would be the site of some of the best rock shows to go down L.A. recently. Last month they got one of my absolute favorites, Devo, to play and this week The Jesus and Mary Chain are the featured band as part of their Friday Night Live Roq at the Races live music series. The post-punk UK-based band that broke out onto the music scene in the 80s and whose "Upside Down" was one of the biggest indie tracks of the decade, will once again perform one of their beautiful noise-filled shows at the open-air venue. Back in the day, The Jesus and Mary Chain became notorious for putting on short 20-minute sets that would incite the crowd and cause it to erupt in riots. I'm not saying you're going to get caught in the cross-hairs of angry punkers' trying to get radical on strangers Friday night but, I'm not ruling it out either. [Details] [Photo via]
