Brent Bolthouse unveiled The Bungalow Huntington Beach last month, which got us hoping and wishing that we'll someday reach the Miami state of mind when it comes to beachside bars. (Above, bar at H.B. Bungalow location)

One of the few decent oceanfront haunts includes the other 1 highway-adjacent cottage bungalow boasting the same nome de plume—The Bungalow Santa Monica. So when we heard they were opening the H.B. locale, we welcomed the news.

At this point, the S.M. bar has been open since July 2012, so why are we still talking about it? This is, after all, L.A., a city so obsessed with youth that even its nightlife venues have to reinvent themselves every few years to maintain a crowd. Still, S.M.'s The Bungalow not only still packs a crowd and boasts a line most nights, they're so successful that they opened that aforementioned second bar under the same namesake— and in the same city. Bold. Plus, though the late night crowd can get rowdy (think 21-25 year old frat bros), in general, a young, hip crowd tends to hang out at this place. So it's clearly a place with staying power, and we expect the same from the H.B. location...
