Who are some of your favorite subjects?
I go through phases but lately, I have been obsessed with The Beatles. I saw this documentary “Eight Days a Week” and I never really understood them or the Beatle mania before it. They just loved singing and creating music and it was never for the fame. I think I admire that most. It goes back to what it takes to be “famous” today. Today you need to market yourself and “fake it,” constantly putting yourself out there in all aspects of the word. The Beatles literally hid from the world when the mania got too crazy. I just love artists who love their craft; it's truly admiring. I want the world to see more of that. So I am giving that to the world.
I used to be all about portraying beautiful historical women but I find myself moving away from that a little bit. I think beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. I LOVE powerful and brave women more than just beautiful women! (I just finished RBG, The Queen, and Jackie O) I also just painted my first self portrait recently. That was really exciting! I never felt comfortable in my own skin to do that but I just kind of said “screw it.” It came out awesome and I think I’m going to do another one.
