Tony Smith Exhibition
Do you find yourself in Chelsea and in need of a good hide and seek spot? On exhibition right now are three large-scale black-painted steel sculptures by the artist Tony Smith. The sculptures, titled Playground, Wall, and Maze, were made over a five-year period starting in 1962. Maze (1967), which is ten feet wide, fifteen feet long, and nearly seven feet tall, is comprised of four individual parts creating a single unit. Smith himself dubbed it a "labyrinth of the mind" which definitely feels like the approval you were waiting for before you started looking for the best hiding spot.
