Richard Prince, "Fashion"
A great art critic once said that Richard Prince was attempting to "catch seduction in the act." Prince's photographs initially seem like a generic sea of models exuding an aura of beauty, luxury and power that permeates capitalist culture. Fashion photographers are meant to elicit visual pleasure and yet each image that Prince has appropriated is of a model with an obstructed view. We become voyeur to a subject who can't see us as well we see them forcing us to face our own ideas of reality.
