“SELF: Portraits of Artists in Their Absence” Exhibition
Artists have created self-portraits for centuries, in part to make sure they are remembered once they are gone. The exhibit includes portraits of internationally known artists of many different generations; Self explores the relationship artists have with their own image and how self-representation has evolved over the past 200 years. The tradition of the self-portrait is particularly interesting in the age of the selfie.
