Richard Avedon, Murals & Portraits
Between 1969 and 1971, Richard Avedon created a series of five, large-scale murals that captured the era's political and cultural movements. Among them: Andy Warhol and The Factory, The Chicago Seven, and Allen Ginsberg and his family. These murals, as well as smaller portraits, will be on display at Gagosian Gallery (the other one), and demonstrate Avedon's prowess in stripping subjects, literally, of artifice.
Opening Reception: Friday, May 4. Runs through July 6.
Where: Gagosian Gallery, 522 West 21st Street
