XAM For The Urban Habitat Project

XAM For The Urban Habitat Project
With his architectural training and extensive street-art background, XAM's aviary habitats are more "art house" than "bird house." Presented as a part of the New Museum's IDEAS CITY Festival, viewers are invited to take a treasure hunt of a tour around the area, discovering installation sites marked with smartphone-scannable QR codes. These guerrilla structures are perched in surprising areas, such as street signs, and are constructed of recycled and sustainable materials in order to promote the nourishment of nature in an urban setting. The tour concludes at Dorian Grey Gallery, where an installation exhibit of more Urban Habitat structures will be displayed. A reception for the artist will be held on May 4, from 6-9 pm When: May 2-12 Where: Dorian Grey Gallery, 437 East 9th Street [Photo via]
