Hugo Fontela, Trees
Spanish artist Hugo Fontela captures the distortions of memory in his new solo exhibition presented by The Gabarron Foundation. Impressed by landscapes and images he has previously come across, Fontela aims to recreate the experience without being the least bit objective. After analyzing the abstraction in his mind, in addition to pouring over outside materials such as clippings, photos, and books related to the image, he channels the resulting picture onto his canvas, highlighting the strange unreality that his personal interpretation is responsible for.
