A museum's biggest task is contextualizing the art it houses. To decide which wall suits a piece best, and which complementary artworks should surround it - creating a world where the art can live and be most truthfully seen. Considering this job takes quite a bit of planning (and heavy hanging), it's not very often one gets to see a whole museum of masterpieces completely re-situated.

This March, The Frick's entire collection was emptied from the Gilded Age mansion and thoughtfully placed in a new temporary two-year home on Madison Avenue - you know the building, the old Whitney turned old Met Breuer turned new Frick. Here, spread out over galleries spanning three floors, the Frick's works have been freshly organized chronologically and by region, breathing new life into Old Masters.

Feeling culturally deprived as of late? Treasures by Bellini, Gainsborough, Goya, Rembrandt, Titian, Turner, Vermeer and more all await to be rediscovered in their new striking modernist frame! Frick Madison (located at 945 Madison Avenue) is open Thursday through Sunday from 10AM to 6PM, with advanced tickets required for entry, so be sure to plan your trip!
