Nothing like Matisse to make long fur hats and rose bud shirts look cool. Matisse did a series of paintings like this, the model Henriette Darricarrère as a sort of exercise in dress-up/cultural appropriation. Here she poses as a Spanish woman despite her French heritage. Wow! Isn't stealing elements of other people's identities and integrating them into your western canonical definition of "culture" fun and rewarding?
