Wait, Who Is He?

OK, if you're one of those people who goes to Art Basel solely for the parties, you might not be familiar. Philbrick is (well, was) a high-end art dealer with two (now-closed) galleries under his belt in London and Miami (he helped open his first when he was around 24 years old). He got his start in the art world as an intern at White Cube, under the tutelage of famed gallerist Jay Jopling. He quickly worked his way up to dealing with major auction houses, snagging coveted pieces and paying record-breaking prices. He gained a reputation for "flipping" art, i.e. inflating the worth of pieces and selling them off. It was working. He was raking in money and putting on a good show for art investors who believed he could get them great returns.
