His mother gave him a troll doll with a graduation cap in his senior year of high school. He later entered an impression contest in New York that his mother heard about. He prepared a commercial for troll dolls for his stand-up routine and won! After switching from computer science and graduating with a degree in communications, Fallon started performing stand-up tours across the country.
