Barbara Corcoran
Though she was born in New Jersey, Barbara Corcoran started her multi-million dollar business in New York City. When she was 23, she received a $1,000 loan from her then boyfriend who she met while waitressing in a diner. Long story short, her boyfriend ended up cheating on her and running away with the secretary, and Barbara Corcoran turned that loan into a business known as The Corcoran Group that she later sold for $66 million. Needless to say, she has earned her seat on the Shark Tank, a show where businesses pitch to the panel of investors in hopes of landing a deal with one of the sharks.
