Bella Hadid Is The Queen Of The Thirst Trap

With the amount of beautiful women saturating my social feeds on the daily (yeah I'm a CIS straight lady - what of it?), it takes something truly special to make me scroll back up and exclaim "damn!" under my breath quietly, but apparently loudly enough so that the person next to me on the subway can hear and shoot me over a judgy look.

This weekend, Bella Hadid did just that. And honestly, it wasn't the first time.

Bella, sister of Gigi, daughter of Yolanda, and Angel of Victoria, boasts somewhat sharper, darker features than those of her all-American, bright-eyed sibling, allowing her effortless sex appeal to use as she pleases. Let's just say she pleases to quite often.

After breaking up with her longtime love, The Weeknd, Bella has become the Queen of the Thirst Trap, serving as an inspiration to us all.

A Thirst Trap, according to Urban Dictionary, is "a sexy photograph or flirty message posted on social media for the intent of causing others to publicly profess their attraction. This is done not to actually respond or satisfy any of this attraction, but to feed the posters ego or need for attention, at the expense of the time, reputation and sexual frustration of those who view the image or reply." 

TL;DR a photo intended to create "thirst," i.e. a super hot snap aimed to aggravate your intended target while picking up some new admirers in the meantime.

I'll add to this definition by saying the best Thirst Trap captions are obscure, mysterious, and perhaps slightly titillating. A lyric, maybe, or even a simple emoji. All that really matters, though, is that you look good and are seriously feelin' yourself. If this were 2005 we'd make a reference to the classic Pussycat Dolls line, "Don't cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?" You know, that's the vibe.
