Fox was born in Milan, Italy into a traditional Catholic family. At six she moved to the Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan to live with her father who, she told The Hollywood Reporter, "[Walked] me to the corner and point[ed] to the street sign. He was like, 'OK, this is where you live. If anything happens, this is where you live.' Then he kind of just sent me off in the world, and I had to figure it out from there." Needless to say, she picked up plenty of street smarts at a young age. Like her description of her Uncut Gems character, “She’s just a really thoroughbred New York biotch."
