Dinner Party-Gate

After facing criticism for her "unfiltered" social interactions with students, Chua reportedly agreed, back in 2019, to not socialize or drink with students outside of class. Despite her support of the careers of many of her students, some claimed she played favorites or that they were afraid of crossing her due to her high-profile connections.

This March, according to a New York Times investigation, a group of students went to the dean of the Law School to accuse Chua of reneging on her agreement to stop socializing with students due to a series of drunken dinner parties apparently hosted during the COVID pandemic. High-powered federal judges were also rumored to be in attendance.
