Daily Style Phile: Azikiwe Mohammed, Much More Than Just A GofG Photographer...

Azikiwe MohammedMeet Azikiwe Mohammed, one of our most talented, and sought after event photographer.  Azikiwe always makes sure to pay attention to specific details, whether that means his shooting and editing of photos, or his attention to outfits.  Since I continue to receive compliments on Azikiwe's personality while out at a job, as well as his unique and progressive style, I knew it was time to give the guy props where they were due. Starting with asking to explain more about himself for us...

"I am a DJ, Photographer, film based black and white printer, painter, illustrator and I also make clothes. I don't think of myself as an artist, I'm just a dude who makes stuff. The stuff I usually end up making is for other people, and as such I take into account what other people may want that isn't extant thus far, or what would put a smile on someone's face. I said a lot of this to Jen last night. I like making people smile. I find it really fun."

Interests... I love buying records both for work (I spin vinyl) and for fun. The deeper the funk the harder the break the more I want it. You don't have to know the song to love it and feel the good time vibes. I love old cameras as well. When not shooting events I shoot medium format color and do so quite frequently.

Stuff that I find interesting thats happening around us now? I find the analog revolution to be personally liberating as times push more into the digital frontier people seem to be pushing back, and doing so from a confident place. I still use my walkman not to make a statement, but because its easier than digitizing my vinyl to just make a tape... No one is really going out "like that" anymore, and as such more house parties are rolling. That rules. Friends opening up homes and turning them into dens of fun. Awesome."
