Daily Style Phile: Emma Stone Shows That Funny Girls Finish First

by Jonee Nunes · July 20, 2011

Hollywood girl on the rise, Emma Stone, has two hot films out and more coming.  She's been stepping out in style, and she' even broke Justin Timberlake's heart (on screen of course).  Her career has been heating up, and she's managed to do it without the typical leaked nudes, hard partying, or diva attitude.  With her talent and distinct sense of humor, she's rolling with the punches of her newfound fame, and rising to the top!

    Rolling Stone

When she was just a high school student, the actress convinced her parents to let her drop out and move to Hollywood.  Here's how she did it: A PowerPoint Presentation.  If only everything were that easy! She experienced what she calls "rock bottom" when she overheard casting directors praising 'Heroes' star, Hayden Panettiere, a role Stone was also auditioning for.  This is what she heard:

"You are our pick, on a scale of 1 to 10, you're an 11"

Ouch, that's gotta hurt!  Although, Hayden had the upper hand, things are obviously much different today for Stone. [via] [via]

    Looks Can Be Deceiving

Maybe it was her teenage angst that helped her with her debut role in Superbad. She's the love interest of dorky Jonah Hill's character; seemingly an awkward pair, but after seeing Stone's down to earth personality, it makes more sense.  She went on to star in House Bunny, Easy A, and Zombieland.  Despite her bombshell looks which she has leant to Vanity Fair's August issue, she has gained a rather unique following of fans: quirky and sarcastic girls.  And that's the way she likes it!  The star says she doesn't want to be pigeon-holed into being "sexy" like most other starlets.

    Emma's Fiery Summer

The actress seems to be riding high as she has THREE movies out this summer.  She stars alongside Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis in Friends With Benefits.  She gets to exercise her all too familiar comedy chops with funny guy Steve Carell in Crazy Stupid Love. Finally she plays journalist in The Help, as she writes a book chronicling the experiences of housekeepers of the Civil Rights era; joining her is Twilight's (and fellow red-head) Bryce Dallas Howard.  She's currently working on the SpiderMan film series as Gwen Tracy.  It seems she won't slow down anytime soon, and with what she wore to last night's FWB premiere, I foresee a haute fashion campaign to match her blazing trail in the near future.
