Daily Style Phile: Emmanuelle Alt Takes Carine Roitfeld Place. A Look At Her Minimalist, Rock Star Glamour

by Mara Siegler · January 7, 2011

Constantly by Carine Roitfeld's side, it is really no surprise that Emmanuelle Alt has been named to take her place as the head of French Vogue. She helped the former EIC turn the mag around in 2000 and has been churning out the chicest fashion spreads ever since. We take a look at her sartorial choices and salivate.

Alt began her career at Mixte and joined Vogue in Paris in 2000 as Fashion Director. While all the women of the magazine are fierce fashionistas, Alt's look is perhaps the most classic.

It consists of simple, no-frills pieces that favor fit over flair and produce a casual sexiness. Skinny jeans, white tees, little jackets, leather, accent pieces of fur and beading, colorful patterned scarves, slick boots and sky high heels define her style. It's hard work to appear this effortless.

Here are some of our favorites.
