Indashio first made a splash on the scene with his ingenious line of doggie swimwear fashioned from recycled shoes. Yes, that’s right – recycled shoes! You may recognize him from MTV’s 8th & Ocean or VH1’s Glam God but if you ever have the pleasure to meet him in person, it’s the hungry pursuit of his vision and his delicious energy that will leave you craving for more.
Backstage, I enjoyed spending time with fellow “Paper Doll” and ANTM winner, Jaslene Gonzalez. This has been an incredible year for her – from winning the coveted title to gracing the covers of Latina Magazine and Seventeen, to name a few!
Before all the glitter and good times, I have to say my day started out less than perfect. I was too nervous to invite my close friends to the show. In fact, I kept daydreaming of staying in bed or hiding away at the Mercedes Benz Lounge under the tents. Luckily, my fellow fashion adventurers Tre Knight and Michael Gwaltney – the Tin Man and Scare Crow to my Cowardly Lion – scooped me up and we skipped all the way to the show.
The energy backstage was entrancing and everyone was so excited that I felt immediately transformed the second I stepped into the room. I have to say that one of my favorite things about taking part in Indashio’s fashion show was walking with women of every color. From regal Latinas to African-American beauties to All-American blondes – Indashio models are as diverse as they are gorgeous.
As we all lined up backstage giggling, Indashio led us in a cheer and then the first girl stepped out onto the catwalk. As Indashio’s Paper Doll bride, I sashayed down the walk once on my own and then again on the designers left for the finale as Jaslene flanked him on his right. All in all it was an enjoyable and exhilarating experience. So, with my nerves behind me and an incredible show under my belt, I can confidently say: Mr. Demille, I’m ready for another close-up!
