THE DAILY STYLE SESSIONS @DailyFrontRow #StyleSessions
The Basics: Arguably Fashion Week’s most widely read publication, The Daily, hosted a VIP lounge on the rooftop of the Empire Hotel. There was a small charging station for electronics, plenty of booze and various sponsors had mini booths set up throughout the space.
Location: The Empire Hotel is across the avenue from the tents at Lincoln Center. While the treacherous intersection could be a little daunting (depending on your footwear) – the promise of passing time enjoying a gorgeous September day in the sunshine with city views was well worth it.
The Goodies: A mish-mash of sponsors included Berroca vitamin tablets, Downy fabric softener,Tic Tac mints and Hanes hosiery… very random. The best giveaways were undoubtedly Alex and Ani bangles and VBeauty sampler packs. However, they did offer mini massages from Oasis Day Spa (an invaluable treat during a hectic week) and the manicure I got saved my chewed up finger nails and lasted through the week!
Food Factor: Vita Coco was available en masse to keep you hydrated, and for those ready to booze it up – Disaronno cocktails and Clos du Bois wine were also available. But unless Luna bars count as lunch to you, there was no real food in sight.
The Celeb sightings: While I was there, Nicole Richie came up for a brief rest and despite her best efforts to be discreet, caused quite a stir as folks clamored to snap photos and say hello. Apparently Paris Hilton was there at some point as well… Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your angle) they didn’t arrive at the same time.
The Verdict: Honestly, being able to kill time on a rooftop outdoors is almost all you need. Manicures and massages were a welcome indulgence during the hectic run around of NYFW, and who can say no to free jewelry? But the lack of food plus the random array of other sponsors (what exactly were we supposed to get out of posing with a bottle of fabric softener at the Downy booth?) left some loungers a bit confused.
