What's the selection process like?

One unique and interesting thing about My List is that you don’t have complete control over what you’re renting. On the My List website you browse through styles that you can then add to your Closet. If something is in your Closet, it’s fair game for them to send it to you, so it’s important to make sure it’s only full of items you’d be happy with at any given time. You can also “prioritize” items that you want to receive the most, which typically make up 50% of your order.

Personally, I like that they choose the items for me, because I'm always getting a top-choice item, which isn’t always the case with other rental services. There are instances in which it can be a little annoying, like when you receive a cocktail dress with no cocktail party in sight, but when you learn to make the most of the subscription, that isn’t really a problem anymore. For this reason, I'd recommend the service for people who are interested in everyday clothing, and not so much special occasion. Though if you learn to work the system, you can have your cake and eat it too - there is an option to put items that you love “on-hold,” but don’t want to receive right now.

Despite the fact that your order is shipped through USPS, which is undoubtedly slower than their competition, they make up for it by the fact that you can have your items processed as 'returned' prior to their arrival at the distribution center. This gives Bloomingdale’s a headstart on your next shipment. Also, when your clothes arrive, everything is packaged in the most beautiful way, so it really does feel like getting a present.
