It's set to be quite a fashionable fall on the museum front this year.
In addition to the Met Costume Institute's upcoming In America: A Lexicon of Fashion (the event célèbre at the heart of this Monday's long-delayed Met Gala), there's the equally exciting Dior retrospective at the Brooklyn Museum - and fashion fans are definitely not going to want to miss it.
Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams explores the history and legacy of the iconic designer and his eponymous label that has stood the test of time.
The exhibition brings Dior's creations and inspirations to life across multiple galleries, featuring an array of over two hundred haute couture garments as well as photographs, archival videos, sketches, vintage perfume elements, accessories, and corresponding works from the Museum’s collection.
Style historians can expect a look back at the designer's groundbreaking "New Look" silhouettes, which debuted in 1947, while pop culture fanatics are sure to get a thrill from a display of pieces worn by their favorite celebrities, from Grace Kelly and Princess Diana to Rihanna and Jennifer Lawrence. The exhibition also spotlights the House's various artistic directors through the years, including Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri.
Get your Instagram ready, people - Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams officially opens this Friday, September 10th.
