Caroline Kennedy took a break from politics last night and joined some A-listers for the opening of  Armani/5th Avenue flagship store in New York City. Because if you can't have that Senate seat, at least you can still be popular, right? The starlit event pulled the celebs away from the tents of Fashion Week and into the stunning four-story glass enclosed space with a floating spiral staircase to sip Bellinis, chit-chat with Mayor Bloomberg, and congratulate Mr. Armani while marveling over his new digs. Armani said of the store:

"New York needs glamour. It needs size. This store is an act of faith toward the Americans and Fifth Avenue shoppers because I still very much believe in this market in which I invested a lot." [Racked]
