Donald Robertson has been honing his artistic chops for years as Estée Lauder's creative director. However, he gained popular acclaim as an illustrator through an unlikely platform: Instagram. As it turns out, his illustrations, characterized by slashes of eye-popping color and meticulous pattern replication, found exactly the right niche in the online social platform. "Every single person told me not to share my work on Instagram, that it would devalue the work," Robertson told W Magazine. "And they were wrong." @donaldrawbertson currently has over 121,000 followers on Instagram and the numbers are only growing. Thanks to his account, when he's not developing special projects for Estée Lauder, he's collaborating with the likes of Net-a-Porter, J.Crew, and Moschino.
