This year, Generation Harvest, City Harvest's young professionals group, hosted the Summer In The City fundraiser at the Metropolitan Pavillion. The event featured tastings and a cocktail party, with food and drinks provided by some of New York's best chefs and cocktail artists. The food at this years event covered a wide range of cooking genres including BBQ, cuban, american, japanese, southwestern, french, and an assortment of sweeties. Last years event was attended by over 500 guests and raised $175,000. Although, based on the looks of it, this years Summer In The City event looks like a successful stomach-filling blast. Proceeds from the event benefit feeding the hungry in New York City. Scott Buchheit was one of the hungry attendees at the event and this is what he had to say:
[Grace Gomez Brea, Scott Buchheit]
"My date for the evening was the always lovely Grace Gomez Brea. We met out front by Rubinstein PR powerhouse Melanie Weitzner and were escorted into the VIP tent where we were treated to champagne and cooking presentations by some of the celebrity chefs in attendance. These included Top Chef vixen Leah Cohen, Cooper Square's Govind Armstrong and Butter's Alex Guarnaschelli. We decided to take a trip outside to visit the over 30 restaurants participating in the event. We immediately saw our friend, Sushi Samba's PR Director Joanna Cisowska and she insisted we try Chef Fernando Naves's, yellow tail ceviche. It was one of our favorites of the night. Other favorites were a mini hot dog served with macaroni n' cheese on top by Ditch plains and the cake served by world famous Magnolia Bakery. Other restaurants participating included: Bella Luna, Oceana, Rosa Mexicano, Serafina, and Barbounia. I usually don't eat at these event but could not resist all the delicious temptations."
