Checkered Vans
I would venture that 50% of feet in the village are shod in checkered Vans. Making an appearance in the "No Brainer" music video (on Justin no less) -have these transcended basic? Maybe. Because these are a cyclical item that emerges with a new aura every ten years-ish. They were popular when I was in middle school and I just discovered they were a thing when Sean Penn was in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
