A Bathing Ape: The Brand Propelled to Stardom by Kanye West
The last brand in my installment, A Bathing Ape, known by resellers as BAPE, is a complex brand when it comes to the resale market. Similar to Off-White, they release pieces that are very similar to previously released items, but to a way worse extent: sometimes even I cannot tell the difference between two different BAPE sweatshirts. Now, that isn't a dis to BAPE, because I love the brand and the pieces they release, but it is simply a word of caution as BAPE is a very hit-or-miss brand. BAPE has no real significant history, except that it was a niche brand in the Japanese market until it picked up steam when Kanye West started rocking BAPE shirts in the late 2000s.
