Jill Stuart's B-List Celebrity Parade... And Spring 2010 Fashion Show

by CARSON GRIFFITH · September 14, 2009

If Marc Jacobs is the A-list show of the season, than it looks like we might have to dubb Jill Stuart the B-list celebrity sh-itshow equivalent. With just about every Bravo show represented front row at this morning's 12pm show at the New York public library, the turn-out had the paprazzi's head spinning at who to snap first. The Real Housewives of New York had a solid showing with Jill Zarin, LuAnn de Lesseps, and Kelly Bensimon, but as an added treat both the Real Housewives of New Jersey and Atlanta were represented

    - although it seemed they struggled for the camera time the NYC ladies were grabbing. We also had Kim Kardashian in a full face of make-up (ambitious, at 12pm), and Gail Simmons from Top Chef. But don't worry, Jill Stuart snagged some Hollywood attention: both Amanda Bynes and Rachel Bilson were there as well (yes, despite the lack of pictures of the petite fashionista, she was in fact in attendance and made a quick entrance at the last minute through the back corridor). Throw this mess in with your typical fashion insiders and what do you get? A feeding ground for papparazzi and camera crews (RHONY was in fact taping for their next season), and people making a mad dash for their seats before the show started.

So what about the clothes? Afterall, it's not like Jill Stuart is Forever 21. Like her audience, it had its hits and misses. The messy-haired models were adorned in dresses and fabrics that would make you think Jill was channeling Studio 54 instead of Spring 2010, but considering New York's latest obsession with nightlife these past couple months, we shouldn't be surprised. The heavy studding she used on jackets and dresses worked on the thinner leather material and strapless silhouettes. Not many shows have shown a heavy "rocker" feel thus far, so it was an unexpected change.  And there was definite approval from the audience on some of the draping she did, along with the sheer boots she used. But the shiny looking dresses, and body-skimming dresses, we can't really see them on anyone outside of Atlantic City or... well, Kim Kardashian.
