They say that beauty is on the inside. Tell that to a child in Western Kenya, Africa who was born with a cleft lip. Enter an organization like Operation Smile, who provides the doctors, funding and surgery necessary to correct facial deformities. Since 1982, more than 100,000 children have been treated by thousands of volunteers and they have truly been given something to smile about.

On Thursday night InStyle Magazine, DKNY and Smile Committee Chairs kicked off the Operation Smile 2008 Event at the DKNY boutique in Saks Fifth Avenue. There were many beautiful people showing off their own beautiful smiles for the cause.

It was easy to see that everyone on the Smile Committee is a total looker. The committee is made up of Byrdie Bell , Martin Dawson, Elizabeth Meigher, Gillian Hearst Simonds, Kipton Cronkite, Jamie Korey, Dabney Mercer, Luigi Tadini, Liz Walker, Chessy Wilson, and Olivia Palermo. Add in all of their friends who came to the event and you end up with a really beautiful crowd, supporting an amazing cause which resulted in a lot of laughs and smiles. Speaking of smiles, guests got to show them off and be as silly and fun as they wanted to in DKNY’s photo booth ~ a digital camera took pictures and printed them out immediately for guests to take. Um, the line for the picture booth was longer than the line for the bar!!!
