Literary fashion collaborations aren't exactly a dime a dozen, but Stella McCartney has never been one to follow the well worn path. Titled ‘Force for Nature,’ the beloved designer's Spring 2020 collection is a wardrobe designed specifically for a strong, independent woman passionate about the planet and shaping the future.
Partnering with famed author and environmentalist Jonathan Safran Foer, the pen behind such critically acclaimed novels as Everything is Illuminated and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, McCartney has created a sustainable capsule within the collection. Titled We Are the Weather, the name of his new novel about the climate crisis, the pieces feature a very William Blake-esque sun print, and phrases crafted by Safran Foer.
This past Wednesday, Saks Fifth Avenue hosted a panel with the two collaborators, moderated by Alina Cho. A conversation on everything from climate change to the importance of sustainability, the talk made quite the impact with a display of model activists sporting the collection.
