    Subscript Clothing Line

Subscript is a relatively new Williamsburg based clothing line of the urban/street variety. Their references range form early 90's Andre Agassi/Nike designs to Iggy Pop. A quick glance at the company's website reveals an affinity for mixed patterns, downtown revelry , and a longing for old New York, where one could ramble the streets burning funny cigarettes and yuppies hadn't yet taken over Williamsburg. Colorful sportswear as suitable for skating and biking riding as it is for kicking it at the bar, a dirty dive bar, dominate the line.

Like many clothing company's especially ones by young people that target young people Subscript not only peddles clothing but an aesthetic, a way of life if you will. That way seems to be down and dirty, a ready for any thing vibe with what seems to be a strange sense of nostalgia for folks so young. But when 20-year cycles fashion cycles turn into 10-year and lately 5-year cycles, all the nostalgia makes sense.
