The Brothers Take Over and Bring in the Fleece

After the death of founder Henry S. Brooks and subsequent passing of his oldest son, the business passed to his four younger sons, the Brooks Brothers, who renamed the store thusly and adopted its current logo, the Golden Fleece from the Greek mythological tale of Jason and the Argonauts. In 1857 they opened a flagship store in SoHo at Broadway and Grand Street.
