Giving the shirt off your back to Party! A group of actors, hipsters, models, singers, socialites and execs found themselves up on the Grid at Barneys Tuesday night to celebrate the second season of Sundance Channel’s “The Green” and to kick-off National T-Shirt Recycling program – a partnership initiative between eco-chic brand Loomstate, Sundance Channel and Barneys New York. No, it was not a coincidence that this event fell on Earth Day AND the invite clearly stated to bring a T-Shirt to recycle.
FYI, T-shirts collected at all Barneys store locations nationwide from April 13-27 will be “re-fashioned” by Loomstate designers Rogan Gregory and Scott Hahn. These “re brought to life” T shirts will be sold exclusively at Barneys for Holiday 2008 with a portion of proceeds going to 1% For The Planet. LOVE that!
Luckily, many followed suit and brought in their gently worn T-Shirts for the cause! Guests enjoyed a performance by Kate Nash and also swayed to the tunes of DJ Paul Sevigny. Who was eco-socializing last night?? Guest of a Guest recycled with socialite Olivia Palermo, Tracee Ellis Ross (yes, Diana’s daughter), Barney’s Senior VP Julie Gilhart, Sundance Channel’s CEO Larry Aidem, guy-about-town David Gruning, Designer Keith Lissner, fashion/gossip scribe Faran Krentcil, Gregory Littley, Anya Hindmarch’s hot PR girl Ashely Wick, golden and glowing socialite Kate Schelter (I learned she’s also a fan of L’Oreal Sublime Glow and for that I instantly loved her).
