Unglamorous as it may seem, this was the scene at the Diane von Furstenberg sample sale today. I knew I'd arrived at the right place when I saw the long line of wrap dress-clad women outside. Upon entering the crowded room, I was overcome by a deep sense that I was in everyone's way--especially when I started snapping pictures in the narrow aisles.
As I got lost among the racks of floral-print blouses and color-block sweaters, I spied the "Sample and Damaged" bin. Jackpot! Everything in these classy cardboard boxes is a mere $30, which is just within my price range. Rummaging through the bins I encountered a neon blue sweater dress, an oversized brown sweater, and a metallic spring jacket. Unfortunately, I didn't fall in love with anything (at least not enough to fork over thirty precious dollars) and I went home empty-handed, but at least I got to step into Carrie Bradshaw's shoes for a few brief minutes.
While I didn't have much luck at the DVF sale, I did see lots of women at the cash register paying for their trendy threads. Since tomorrow is the last day of the sale (it's open from 10-3), hurry down to Fifth Avenue and grab some discount designer duds while you still can!
