Things really hit the fan when influencers who received the crumbles as part of a PR package before the general public took to social media to share their experiences, determining that their mysterious illnesses were linked to the lentil crumbles.
In a TikTok video viewed nearly 100,000 times, New York-based creator and Digital Creative Director of Cosmopolitan, Abby Silverman, issued a PSA and described going to the hospital with severe stomach pain after eating the product. Though multiple tests could not determine exactly what was wrong, they did reveal elevated liver levels and damage that she has been dealing with now for a month.
