Jim Lahey of Sullivan Bakery has opened up this unpretentious yet modern pizzeria in Chelsea. Though it may be hard to get seated during prime-time hours, the large round tables and even larger communal table make it a great option for bigger parties looking to feast on what is easily some of the best pizza in New York. The pizzas are cooked in a 700 degree wood-burning oven and contain some of the freshest ingredients around. Though our personal favorite is the simple Margherita pie, you can't go wrong with the Ham & Cheese pie with gruyère, mozzarella and prosciutto, or the Flambe with parmesan, mozzarella, caramelized onions, lardons in a bechamel sauce.
