Kotti Berliner Street Food
Co-founded by German natives, Erkan Emre and Michael Stark, Kotti brings what is arguably the best aspect of Berliner nightlife to NYC weekend brunch: drunk food. Kotti- a popular nickname for Berlin's Kottbusser Tor area, is a neighborhood famous for its nightlife as well as the floods of Turkish restaurants. Altogether, this makes it the epicenter for Berlin's best middle-of-the-night drunk food, with döner kebab being the highlight of such. Brought to Berlin by Turkish immigrants decades ago, döner's are basically sandwiches made of Turkish flatbread and filled with split-roasted chicken, roasted vegetables, and sauce. Frankly, they're mouthwatering enough on their own to warrant a trip to Berlin. However, for those whose weekend budgets that are under $50 (like a normal person), Kotti at Smorgasburg is a great place to begin your love affair with the döner kebab masterpieces.
