Milk Bar's Christina Tosi Is Our Quarantine Baking Savior

by Danielle Nahabedian · March 30, 2020

It's easy to feel the quarantine blues when you're bored in the house... in the house bored (bet you never thought you would be in on TikTok trends, but alas). Well, now is the time to treat yourself by sprinkling a bit of baking into your daily routine. You know, to help sweeten the mood.

Thankfully, Christina Tosi the founder and chef extraordinaire behind foodie cult favorite, Milk Bar, has stepped up to help transform our kitchens into five star bakeries. Every day at 2 pm EST, Tosi takes her culinary expertise live on her Instagram page for "Virtual Baking Club," guiding us mere mortals on how to make our very own sweet treats - and have a blast while doing it.

Tosi whips up recipes such as cut-out cookies, oat bars, and meringues and has even made prep hassle-free, so you can avoid turning the dreaded grocery store run into a daily occurrence. The recipes generally follow a list of basic baking essentials, posted on her Instagram page, and the exact recipe is posted the night before the live stream. The cut-out cookies, for example, consisted of five basic ingredients. But Tosi was sure to put a quirky, Milk Bar twist on at the end with two carrot juice and cola infused glazes.

Before she made the jump to Instagram Live, she created a Youtube series, "Pantry Moves." There, you can check out more homemade renditions of Milk Bar's beloved desserts such as Chocolate B-Day Truffles and Cornflake Marshmallow Chocolate Chip Cookies.

If you aren't much of a DIY person but are still craving a Milk Bar cake or truffle, they are offering delivery through Postmates, Uber Eats, Caviar and Door Dash, along with nationwide shipping on their website.

Tune in with Tosi this week and, because you've definitely nothing going on anytime soon and are in desperate need of more virtual events to keep you entertained, check out our Social Calendar
