For those of us who take our sweets seriously (and always leave room for dessert), there exists a kindred spirit in Chef Eunji Lee, the celebrated name behind the buzzed-about new pastry boutique in Flatiron.
Treating her creative confections like true works of art, the Korean-born, French-trained Lee has unveiled Lysée, a self-described "dessert gallery" showcasing the flavors and techniques of Korea, France, and, of course, New York, where she most recently worked as the Executive Pastry Chef of Michelin-starred Jungsik.
The two-floor patisserie and cafe, which boasts an espresso and beverage bar, embraces modern simplicity and elegance in its design, featuring light, natural materials and accents of “Ja-Gae,” intricately crafted Korean mother of pearl.
The sleek and chic space allows the whimsical treats themselves to bask in the spotlight. As for what you can expect in that department? The delicious (and Insta-worthy) selection includes a Signature Mousse Cake with Korean toasted brown rice mousse, pecan praline & sablé, a vibrant Strawberry Tart, and the V.I.C. (Very Important Chocolate Cake) with Chocolate cremeux, dark chocolate sponge cake and Timut Pepper caramel. There are also cookies, croissants, and specialty seasonal sips.
Trust, this spot is sure to satisfy even the most discerning of sweet tooths.
