Whether it's where to see some fabulous art, which spot in any neighborhood has the best martini, or the exciting places to shop for a truly unique gift, Patti Ruiz-Healy always has the answer.
The Texan turned New Yorker is one of the tops gallerists to watch, curating must-see contemporary art shows featuring US Latinx, Latin American & Texas based artists at her Upper East Side jewel box of a gallery, Ruiz-Healy Art.
Curious as to how the artsy It Girl will be celebrating (and shopping) through the holidays?
Us too!
What's on your list to get and give?
Always on my list to gift or receive is art! You can never have too much art at your home or office. Some of my favorite artists are Carlos Rosales-Silva and Jennifer Ling Datchuk.
Rosales-Silva works themselves are abstract acts of personal discovery. Jennifer's works often use a myriad of materials ranging from porcelain to textiles and synthetic hair.
How do you celebrate the holidays?
My parents are both from Mexico so on Christmas Eve, Nochebuena, we celebrate with tamales and carne asada!
On Christmas Day we go all American and celebrate with turkey and all of the traditional sides and desserts. Matching PJs are a must.
Where will you be this season?
For the holidays I will be with my family in San Antonio, Texas! I look forward to celebrating with friends and family and taking a weekend trip to Fredericksburg, about 70 miles from San Antonio. The small town is home to amazing boutiques, wineries, and restaurants. My favorite place to stay is The Trueheart Hotel! Each morning they offer a homemade biscuit basket!
Who's the toughest to shop for on your list?
The ladies in my life are usually the hardest to shop for! You can never go wrong with jewelry though! Some of my go-to's are Mahnaz Collection for vintage and artist jewelry, perfect brand for the lady in your life who has everything!
My other must shop is Renna, she has something for everyone on your list, even your pet! The brand is a sustainable jewelry house and uses 100% recycled 18-karat gold, an initiative which I feel very happy supporting. Be sure to get one of her sterling silver dog tags for the pet in your life!
Favorite spots around town to pick up something in person?
The pandemic turned me into more of an online shopper. That being said, I recently attended the opening of the Sabyasachi store on Chirstipher Street and I was blown away. The new flagship store, the first one outside of India, defines the word awesome. It's truly enchanting and a real shopping destination experience.
What's your go-to hostess gift?
Candles are the best hostess gift! I love Otherland candles and extra love that every hand-poured candle is free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and cruelty free.
